POLYHEDRAL DICE

"Polyhedral Dice" or "Poly's" are the common terms for dice used in Role-Playing Games and Wargames

According to MathWorld a Polyhedron is defined as:

"a three-dimensional solid which consists of a collection of polygons, usually joined at their edges"

By this definition all dice fit into this category

For purposes of this category ... polyhedral dice are actually the Platonic Solids plus the Pentagonal Trapezohedron

This category will not address all the different shape variations for the different sided dice ... Click HERE for a full list of the shapes I have found to date

When polyhedral dice were first released they were sold indivdually ... Now they are usually sold in sets of either 7 or 9 dice ... but they can still be purchased individually

Seven dice sets contain one of each die listed below plus an additional ten-sided die (the %10 see the ten-sided dice for details)

Nine dice sets contain all the dice in a seven dice set plus two additional six-sided dice
